Description
This is a nice rare fossil Camel Lower Jaw. Has matrix on it, 1 lower molar, gone thru dredge and rolled on beach, has damage and a small sticker for TCD. It was found along the shore of Texas City Dike. Back in the 70s and 80s there were very large dredge moundsalone
the Texas City Dike. This was a
pleistocene layer that was dredged from the ship channel to deepen it. The mammal fossil teeth and bones would wash out along the shore of the dike. My brother, recently visited the dike to find that all the mounds had weathered away to nothing and the dike has been rocked over or sand was brought in to make beaches. So these fossils are a rare thing now as the site will no longer be producing fossils.
This is from my fathers collection and was collected back in the 70s. He passed away in 2017. From the collection of George Wolf of Pasadena Texas
